On Saturday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, visited the Second International Festival of Potato Pancakes in the Town of Korosten
Sending his greetings to the participants and guests of the festival, V.Lytvyn stated that people were in need of "communication, cordiality and smile, as life is already full of hardships".
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that Zhytomyr region was his small Motherland, and "potato pancakes were considered as the best dish there". "Only kind-hearted people, such as the residents of Zhytomyr region, Korosten and the whole Ukraine, can cook potato pancakes, - he stated. When I visit my parents, my mother always cooks potato pancakes, and they are the tastiest in the world".
The participants of the festival cooked various dishes from the potato, attended the school of potato pancakes cooking; every person could taste freshly-cooked potato pancakes and receive a diploma on the graduation from Korosten school of potato pancakes cooking.
Together with Volodymyr Moskalenko, mayor of Korosten, V.Lytvyn opened the monument to the potato pancake in the form of a large pot with potato pancakes.
